NaNoWriMo
Published Nov 1, 2020
I’ve always thought that NaNoWriMo is a fun way for aspiring novelists to try out their writing. There’s a sunk-cost-preventing time-box, a supportive community, and resources to help the lost-but-motivated. The reason I’ve never participated is that I’m not at all interested in writing a novel!
What I am interested in is technical writing (computing, specifically) and sharing unpolished thoughts. I’m bad at the “unpolished” part in particular. I struggle with letting the thought just be without analyzing and editing it until it’s not interesting anymore.
In classic systems-thinking fashion, I’ve decided that the way to make this easier is to push myself to do it more often. So this is me making my first step in my backronym’d “Napkin Notes Writing Month”. I’ll try to publish at least one sentence every day for the month of November.
I also really wanted to call something “Thinkin' Logs” because somehow no one has used that pun before!
